Born in Guanajuato, Mexico into an artistic family, Tamara G. Ordaz has spent the past 27 years in Texas. In 2002, she began experimenting with kiln-formed glass. Though largely self-taught, she built her skills and knowledge by attending numerous workshops and classes.
In 2005 she opened a home studio where she works full time as a warm glass artist. Since that time she has evolved from fused jewelry items and small decorative functional pieces to larger, more intricate wall-hung fused glass “paintings“. “I feel I have achieved a unique style in my most recent work. The larger scale offers me the opportunity to experiment with color interactions and complex shapes. My endless fascination with light, texture and color is why I love working with glass; no other artistic medium has such limitless possibilities”. Tamara lives in San Antonio with her husband and “family” of five dogs.
